Jamie Carter

President, Eastern Division

As president of LifePoint Health's Eastern Division, Jamie Carter is responsible for operational oversight of LifePoint's hospitals in Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia, including all 14 facilities that make up the Duke LifePoint Healthcare organization. He most recently served as chief operating officer (COO) for LifePoint's former Eastern Group of facilities.

Jamie has more than 25 years of industry leadership experience. Prior to joining LifePoint, he served as chief executive officer (CEO) of Baptist Health Medical Center in Conway, Arkansas. Before that, he was COO of Methodist University Hospital -- an academic medical center that is part of Methodist LeBonheur Healthcare System in Memphis, Tennessee. Previous to his tenure at Methodist, he served in executive leadership roles for several other hospitals and healthcare facilities. Throughout his career, he has led significant initiatives in the areas of patient- and family-centered care, physician recruitment, facility renovations and residency and fellowship programs.

He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alabama and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Mississippi and is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
